STONES WILL BE CENSORED IN CHINA
Premier Ed-Mao Ping-Sullivan-Chen Dung Issues Decree
Funky Chicken, China - (GIN)
- The Rolling Stones will not be allowed to sing several of their hit songs in China because the political, revolutionary lyrics "might stir our people to revolt", according to the Chinese News Agency, Feng Shui.
"We cannot tolerate songs like 'Blowin' In The Wind', 'Masters of War', 'Vietnam Rag', 'For What It's Worth', 'We Are Family', and that one with the line 'People everywhere just got to be free'," the news agency statement read in part.
Additional Stones songs not allowed include 'Dancin' In The Streets', 'Something In The Air', 'Love One Another Right Now', 'Long Time Gone', 'Eve of Destruction', 'Billy, Don't Be A Hero', 'With God On Our Side', and 'Wipeout'.
