SUPREME COURT PONDERS REVISING "MIRANDA" "Rights? You don' have no stinkin' rights" Washington, D.C. - (GNS) - Under heavy pressure from the White House to eliminate the rights of suspects, the US Supreme Court opened its session today, pondering revisions to "Miranda". Miranda refers to the reading of rights to a suspect, and has been popularized in numerous TV police and courtroom dramas. Under discussion are several possible revisions: "You. Get down. Arms behind your head. Shut up." "Hey you, turn around and bend over." "Okay scumbag. [punch] You gonna talk or what?" "Yeah, we'll get a doctor as soon as you spill your guts." "Rights? You don' have no stinkin' rights". "You fucked up, you got diddly, and now you'd better start talkin' or you're gonna get fucked." Civil Libertarians, normally vocal, have been silent. The fact that they've been rounded up and detained is not related to their silence, according the Justice Dept. officials. The Justices plan to decide before the end of the year which revision or combination of revisions will go into effect. |
